Please refer to the attached video tutorial for information on Changing the Batteries on a Validator
Topics Covered Include:
- Typically the batteries in a Validator should last approximately 1 year, though it is very common to get well over two years of service out of a set of batteries
- When the batteries are running low, the words Lo Batt will appear on the screen
- When this occurs, the batteries should be replaced as soon as possible
Two Options to rectify a low battery situation
1) Change the batteries on the existing device:
- It is important to note that for this method, you will need to be logged into the web portal and have access to the device at the same time
- This can be accomplished with an administrator logged in at the home office, and a field administrator on-site where the Validator is
- The device will need to be removed from it's mounted location to access the battery door
- The person on-site will need to have a security screw driver to be able to remove the device from the wall if the screw-mounting method was used
- If The Validator was secured by a strap, a pair of scissors and a new strap will be needed to remove and re-install the device
- Once you remove the device log into the web portal and navigate to the Admin>Validators tab
- Click on Change Batteries in a Validator and click Next
- Search for and select the appropriate Validator and click Next
- In the Helpful Hints box, click on Step-by-Step instructions and follow the steps listed
- When you have replaced the batteries and pressed the button, wait a few minutes before pressing the button again
- Press the button again and record the output in the 8-digit Output box and click Finish to re-start the device
- A success alert will display if the batteries were changed successfully
2) Swap out the device that has low batteries for one that has new batteries
- Ensure that the device that you're swapping is assigned to the appropriate client and the client is unassigned from the original device
