To Install a Validator in a Client's location:
- The preferred method of installing a Validator is on a light switch plate nearest to the entry way of the room where the patient will be seen by the caregiver
- Uncrew the bottom screw from the patients light switch plate
- Align the screw-hole on the top of The Validator with the hole in the switch plate
- First try to install The Validator with the shortest screw
- If the screw isn't long enough, try using the next longest one
- Only in rare cases should the longest screw be used
- CAUTION: Do not attempt to use the longest screw when it is not absolutely necessary. If the longest screw is used when a shorter one would suffice, the screw can mechanically damage the light switch which could increase the potential for injury
- Use the provided screw driver to drive the screw into the light switch
- Make sure that the device is secure by gently pulling on the device
- Alternatively, the security straps can be used to secure The Validator to a bed post or any other immovable sturdy object or piece of furniture
- Notes:
- Mount the device so that the battery door is covered to prohibit unauthorized personnel from tampering with the batteries
- The security strap works similar to a zip-tie
- Feed the security strap through the slits on the side of the device
- Wrap the strap around the object that you are trying to secure it to, and pull the strap through its locking inlet until it is secure
- Note that once the straps begins to lock, you can't reverse or loosen the strap
- If the strap needs to be removed, you'll have to cut it
